Micardis belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II inhibitors
Angiotensin II is a substance produced in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict and thus blood pressure to rise.
Micardis blocks the effect of angiotensin II so that blood vessels dilate and blood pressure drops.
This can help lower blood pressure and may reduce your risk for heart attack and stroke.
