Isotretinoin is a synthetic retinoid which reduces sebaceous gland size and sebum production.
It works on the sebaceous glands to reduce the production of a natural substance (sebum) that causes acne.
Controlled sebum production also kills acne-causing bacteria.
It also acts as an anti-inflammatory to reduce inflammation (redness and swelling).
- Should be taken with food.
- Take this medicine in the dose and for the duration advised by your doctor.
- Swallow the medicine whole. Do not chew, crush, or break it.
