Esolief Oral Gel Sticks is a medical device indicated for the relief of symptoms related to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) which manifests as gastric pain, heartburn, acid reflux, or sometimes also as cough or dysphonia (hoarseness). Esolief is a stomach wall protecting gel packaged in 10 ml single-dose sachets which rapidly reduce symptoms related to damaged gastro-esophageal mucous membrane. The normal esophageal mucosa creates a protective barrier that restricts the acidic reflux and associated damage. It is a combination preparation containing chondroitin sulfate (SC) and hyaluronic acid (HA) suspended in a bioadhesive carrier called poloxamer 407 which is adapted to adhere to the esophageal mucosa creating a protective layer covering the mucosa which acts as a mechanical protective barrier against irritants, ie; the hydrochloric acid produced by the stomach. Thus, Esolief gel can rapidly reduce symptoms related to gastro-oesophageal reflux such as heart burn, gastric pain etc. It has a liquid-gel form, easy to use, in specially prepared sachets containing one dose of the drug. It is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, does not interact with drugs or food and therefore is safe for the patient.
