There are several factors that will influence your body’s ability to synthesize vitamin D, including being exposed to less sunlight, such as during the winter months (Oct-Mar) in the UK, or wearing clothes that cover more of your skin in the summer months, having darker skin, and being over 65.


Not many foods contain natural vitamin D, that’s why some foods get fortified with it. Good food sources of vitamin D include sardines, egg yolk, salmon, shrimp, fortified milk, fortified yogurts, fortified cereal, and fortified orange juice.
