Exforge 5/320mg Tablets (5 mg of amlodipine and 320 mg valsartan) contains two active ingredients, Valsartan and Amlodipine, and is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension). Valsartan works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels, which helps relax the blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Amlodipine, on the other hand, blocks calcium from entering the heart and blood vessel cells, relaxing the blood vessels and improving blood and oxygen supply to the heart. Exforge is prescribed for patients whose blood pressure is not well-controlled with either Valsartan or Amlodipine alone.
