What Are the Benefits of This Supplement?

  • Vitamin D is one of the body’s most important vitamins, helping it with a variety of tasks: Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system and is very important for the body’s structural system, maintaining normal bone and muscle function. Vitamin D3 also contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus.
  • When exposed to sunlight, our bodies will naturally make vitamin D3. This process happens when ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation from the sun triggers the 7-dehydrocholesteol to produce D3. Research suggests that everyone over the age of one years should have a daily intake of at least 10µg of Vitamin D per day to protect bone and muscle health. Government advice is that everyone should consider taking a daily vitamin D supplement, especially during the autumn and winter.

    Being housebound, i felt that a Vitamin D supplement may be necessary, so i purchased Holland & Barrett Vitamin D3 Tablets 25ug, So far so good, but i think i need to take them for more than 5 days before I can give a realistic review! Basically you are asking me to review an item that i have not had enough time to assess!

    Our GP recommended these after we had had a blood test to find out what our vitamin D levels were. Might be best to have blood test before taking this high a dosage.

    I was prescribed vitamin D by my Gp and found these were not only better value for money, in that I got more for my money, but also they were suitable for vegetarians. Most items from a GP comes in a gelatin capsule. Well done H&B for providing such a good range suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
